My name is….
SHELBY ANDAL, and this is my new blog. I really thought I wouldn’t ever actually blog for work anymore, but here we are. The thing is, as a photographer or really just a small business owner in general, the fastest way to get your site seen on Google is to blog. Yep. So here we are. It’s fine; this is fine; everything’s fine…
Let me back up a little bit and tell you how I got here.

When I left my job in 2011 I never expected to start my own business, but I had been playing around with the idea of learning to take photos, and decided to start taking classes at a local art college. I naturally took to portraiture and decided to start taking real clients in 2012. My very first session was of a little girl and her mom, and it is still one of my all time favorite sessions to date.
Flash forward thirteen years and I’ve been all over the country to capture people’s memories. I’ve been commissioned to shoot weddings, branding projects, lifetime sessions, newborn babies and birth days where I was honored to capture first breaths. I’ve celebrated countless senior years and sweet sixteens and first birthday smash cakes. I’ve been asked to document last moments together and so many family laughs and memories. It’s truly been a calling that I am forever thankful to have answered.
These last thirteen years definitely can not be summarized in a single blog post, let alone a couple of paragraphs, but it’s been such a ride, and even though the last couple of years I’ve truly needed to take some time for myself and have limited sessions, I miss it and am SO excited to jump back in!!

My business plan is honestly so all over the place because I just keep thinking “I wanna do it all again” after many years of having primarily high school seniors as my subjects. I miss the squishy newborns, and gummy smiles, and full family laughs. Now that my family is all settled in our new (ish) town, it’s time to pick it all back up again, and I’m so excited to share all the moments with all of you once more.
Thanks to everyone who has been with me through it all. I am honored to have been asked to capture all the moments and am more than excited to be a part of whatever is next.
