When Jodi told me about her Vintage Pattern Project I thought it was inspired and fresh. I love the concept of taking these old patterns and working through them piece by piece, and I’ve seen some of Jodi’s pattern collection — it is INTENSE. Homegirl has been collecting vintage patterns since she was a teenager and has a *TON* of them!!
You can read all about her January journey by clicking the link above and visiting her blog. She goes into detail about each pattern that she selected, the fabric choice, the ease (or lack there of) in which it came together… It’s super interesting!
As far as the shoot goes — GOSH this was fun! I didn’t know what to expect at all because I really hadn’t worked with this group of ladies before and this was the first month. Buncha firsts! That being said, it was better than I could have ever anticipated!! The models were ON POINT and followed direction like professionals. We had a blast and got some really great stuff!
I’m even more excited about this year-long project now than I was when we first started brainstorming about it! Each month is going to be different and we’ve had a ton of people apply to be models! Some months will have themes and some won’t, but every month will be shot in the studio with this editorial feel against seamless backdrop paper. I love this stuff and I haven’t used it in YEARS until recently. When I first started shooting I used it a ton and I loved the look of it, but it hasn’t really been “in style” for a while now — Now it’s back with a vengeance and I can NOT get enough!!
If you’re interested in joining in on this project, you can fill out a model application HERE.
Jodi – January is amazing and I can’t wait to see what the rest of the year looks like! And to my January ladies — YOU GUYS KILLED IT. You really did a great job!
