It’s been a long time since I’ve had my little dudes in front of my camera. I don’t have a really great excuse – other than the fact that I’ve just been busy with work and life… That still isn’t a great excuse, though.
When I got home from my conference, I knew that the very first thing I wanted to do was put my kids in front of my camera. Clayton was scheduled for a huge haircut the following day, so without a plan – without a new wardrobe – without everything being 100% perfectly planned out – and while trying to beat the rain… We set out and did a quick mini-shoot in a local parking lot.
I didn’t know what I wanted to do, but I knew I wanted to capture them. I wanted Clayton’s hair to be wild and free, and I wanted to highlight Connor’s cool-dude | James Dean attitude. I pulled some clothes from their closet, hurried them into them and grabbed all of my gear. On the way out the door, Connor was still playing guitar (always), so I told him to just bring it with him and we’d use it!
Gosh. I’m so glad that A – I got out of my head and stopped trying to make it PERFECT, B – I told him to bring that guitar – and C – I captured Clayton’s flowy locks before he donated them to Children With Hair Loss the following day.
